1’s v Bury St Edmunds
2-0
Bishops Stortford travelled to Bury St Edmunds with a fresh mix of debutants and a bit of old-school flair. From the outset, the team was full of confidence, and it didn’t take long for that belief to translate into dominance on the pitch.
Stortford made their intentions clear early on, creating several chances that were narrowly off target. It wasn’t long before the breakthrough came. Fifteen minutes in, the team won a short corner, and a brilliant combination between Lexie and Titch saw the ball find the back of the net, cue the celebrations.
With the first goal in hand, Stortford continued to press, determined to add to the scoreboard. The halftime talk was simple: keep the pressure on and bag a few more. Bury St Edmunds, meanwhile, began to show signs of frustration, with tensions boiling over when they tossed little Lou’s stick across the pitch.
Despite the growing pressure, Stortford remained composed. A run down the wing from Gracie created the perfect opportunity for Beth to score her first goal for the team. Bury didn’t go down without a fight, though. A short corner late in the game looked like it might break our clean sheet, but Lexie was on hand to clear the ball off the line with a crucial save.
In the final 10 minutes, Stortford managed the game expertly, holding onto their lead and keeping the clean sheet intact. A well-deserved victory for the team, who continue to build momentum this season.
