Ladies 1s

This year’s player of season has been a driving force and fierce in the midfield. She has sprung the attacks with powerful direct running and quick stick skills

The Player of Season goes to: Titch (Katherine Langridge)

Ladies 2s

This player has steadily gained confidence throughout the year. Her work rate and composure has made the centre of the pitch a tough area for the opposition to navigate through. Quick, skilful and resilient she continues to battle on no matter what the opposition throw at her.

Player of season goes to: Sophie Higgins

Ladies 3s

This individual has been a member of the 3s since start of season. Despite her re-locating to London she still committed to finishing the season with us. A solid defender that has mastered the odd aerial in every match this year. A real team player and core member of the team gaining many POM awards.

3’s Player of the Season is: Annie McGloin

Ladies 4s

The 4s Player of the Season was hotly contented. Maddie Lucas must get a shout out -she was certainly in the running as she stepped up to Captain the team many times in Hannah’s absence.

The award however goes to someone new to the 4s this season but who very quickly slotted in.  She was an easy replacement for the open position that she filled and has been vital to the 4s success this season. Gaining some POM votes almost every week due to her daring saves during the games and never one to back down when the opposition at her feet, she remains calm, calculated and very much a fighting force in the defence.

Without doubt not only the captains choice, but pretty much the whole team agrees with the player of the season going to: Freya Rich

Ladies 5s

Another new player to the club this season, one who we managed to poach with a promise of specific training for her skill set and, (I’m told)  obviously a better club ethos.

She travels the furthest  yet still attends regularly attends Wednesday training as well as the extra specific training when scheduled.

She brings passion and a sense of teamwork and will always give advice on the pitch as well as encouraging the team to stay for teas every game too.

The award goes to: Sarah Bucknell

Ladies 6s

New to the club as an adult member in September, this player has been central to the 6s in what has proved to be a very difficult season and when other new players walked away in that rocky first quarter of the season she stuck with it. This player has attended every training night when not on shift. She’s learned everyone’s name across both 6s and 7s showing the importance of training attendance and this has made her game communication easy, commanding the team from her CB position, a position that she states isn’t her favourite defensive role, yet she has taken it on with gusto and positivity.

Players of season from 6s goes to: Millie Barrett

Ladies 7s

This individual has grown in confidence and her contribution on the pitch has escalated all season. She was moved up from 8s early on in season when the teams all had to recalibrate and has proved her playing level in the 7s. She’s a regular at training and still attends 8/9s Thursday training as well, just to get some more hockey in!

Positioned on the wing and great at creating attacking opportunities, she’s been sneaking ever closer to taking the scoring opportunity in the last few weeks. She received a number of votes from the team and her feedback would take longer to read out than rest of the club nominations.

It’s been my pleasure to see develop this season.

The Award goes to: Chloe Allmark

Ladies 8s

New to Adult hockey this season, this player has demonstrated commitment to matches and training sessions. She is hardworking, always positive and a committed player. She lifts team morale and demonstrates positive sportsmanship and is considerate of her teammates.

Always striving to improve, asking for feedback for improvement of her game. Her confidence has grown immensely this season and she’s very much able to hold her own with the older players around her.  The feedback from her team all supported her as a skilful player and great teammate. She is a real joy to have on the team.

The 8s Player of season goes to: Emily Osbourne-Worcester

Ladies 9s

Although not this year’s winner I need to mention Harkierat Gill who is always committed, respectful and will also be one to watch in future seasons having made her debut in the 7s as the season closed.

The winner for the 9s always makes herself available to play. Supportive of her teammates and offers playing ideas during games. She makes maximum effort in getting back to help defend and creates turn over into attack.

A much relied upon member of the team to ensure she gets into space and gives team options throughout the game.

9s player of season goes to: Amelia Bernie

Ladies 10s

Before announcing the actual winner, mentions go out to Catherine Smith, a  Back To Hocker player, now an outstanding goal poacher and Kimberley Guthrie, who attends a school that doesn’t provide hockey, who has been the breakthrough player of the 10s.

However, the Player of the season for the 10s, has consistently trained, played every game and developed into a dangerous attacking player- Obviously in a good way!!

Her coach and Captain is convinced that even though only currently 12 year old, she’ll be kicking on the heels of ladies 1s before she hits 6th form.

The award goes to: Annie Johnson

Most Improved Player of the Season

A very difficult choice this year with a number of strong cases coming in from the captains. A mention must go to Nula Boston who came up in a few conversations. She came up from the 8s to the 7s in the early shuffle of the season and then was swiftly asked to fill a place n the defence line up of the 6s where she remained for the season.  One to watch for the future.

However, the individual who receives this award was mentioned by more than one Captain and is a player who stood out when Lori considered the nominations.

Over the past couple of seasons, this player’s confidence has exploded which has improved her presence on the pitch. Reliable and robust as an attacker and not shy in getting back to defend.

She has grown from starting out in the 7s a few years ago, was allocated to 6s at the start of the season and swiftly pulled into the 5s finally landing in the 4s where she has found herself in a attacking role that constantly scores, and at the time of writing was second top goal scorer for the ladies section! She has also been called into the couple the 3s for a couple of games.

Reliable on the pitch and very supportive of the U18s in the team.

The most improved player this season is: Lois Wright

Young Player of the Season

As might be expected of a club with such a strong junior section there were lots of nominations for this award, we are lucky that the ladies’ side has so many talented young  players coming through the ranks. On a personal note it’s been an absolute delight to see the numbers turning out every week.

Many of our junior players are making good progress, moving up through teams year on year, whilst others have jumped two teams this year or finished in teams higher than they started back in September, and all are commended for their commitment and hard work. And there has been some excellent performances from some mid-season starters that will keep us all on our toes next year.

This year’s young player award winner started spent most of last season helping the 6s gain promotion. She  was immediately on the radar to play higher this season. The start of the season saw her allocated into the 4s as a start point to give her just a 2 team jump but she wasn’t fazed in that level. After being picked up by the Talent Academy she was stolen by the 3s and then the 2s where she has slotted in well and definitely found her feet. She has lately been noticed by the 1s captain and played Premier level for them a few times this season.

The Ladies Young Player goes to: Charlotte Pettit
