1’s v Harleston Magpies

1-5 (Oli Plummer)

Bishop’s Stortford men’s 1s travelled to Norfolk on Saturday for an late 4:30pm push back against Harleston Magpies, eventually going down 5–1 despite a spirited showing.

The hosts made a fast start, opening the scoring in the 7th minute, but Stortford hit back quickly. Just six minutes later, Oliver Plummer finished neatly to bring the scores level and give the visitors real momentum. Stortford enjoyed some strong spells of possession in the first half, matching their opponents and creating chances of their own.

After the interval, the game remained finely balanced for long periods. However, Harleston found their finishing touch late on, scoring four times in the final 15 minutes to put the result beyond doubt.

While the final scoreline flattered the home side, Stortford could take pride in their effort, defensive organisation, and the quality of Plummer’s equaliser. With a number of positives to build on, they will look to turn performance into points in the weeks ahead.

Next up for Stortford is a home fixture against local rivals Broxbourne, where they will be looking  to bounce back in front of the home crowd.
