1’s v Broxbourne 1’s

3-8 (Jon Taylor, Jamie Brooks x2)

Stortford 1s endured a tough afternoon at home as a ruthless Broxbourne 1s side handed them a heavy 8–3 defeat in what proved to be an eventful and bruising encounter.

From the opening whistle, Broxbourne imposed themselves with sharp passing, intelligent movement, and clinical finishing. Stortford struggled to find their rhythm, often pinned deep in their own half as the visitors dominated possession. By half time, Broxbourne had built a commanding 4–0 lead, making the most of their chances in front of goal.

The second half followed a similar pattern early on, with Broxbourne continuing to press high and stretch the Stortford defence and by the 60-minute mark the visitors had surged into an 8–0 lead.

Both sides found themselves a player down through separate injuries,.both requiring patching up by the A&E team at Princess Alexandra.

To their credit, Stortford refused to roll over. In the final ten minutes, they finally began to find some fluency and confidence going forward. Jon Taylor opened the hosts’ account with a well-taken strike, before Jamie Brooks bagged a quick-fire brace to give the home supporters something to cheer.

Although the late rally couldn’t change the outcome, Stortford’s spirited finish offered a glimpse of what they’re capable of. They’ll be looking for improvement on Saturday as they travel to Ipswich.
