Some very sad news and funeral details to pass on:

Richard Cheetham, who carried on playing hockey well into his 60s, passed away on 2 April, aged 85.  A Service of Thanksgiving to which all are welcome will take place on 27 April at 2.30 at Holy Trinity Church, Takeley (with a family only funeral at the crematorium in the morning ), then afterwards in the Old School, Takeley (the Takeley Parish Council’s building)

Other very sad news of the passings of our former members from earlier in the year:

  • Barry Halliwell, a fully signed up member of the goalkeeper’s union, passed away on Sunday 5 January
  • Eric Watts, Chairman of the Mens Club in the mid-1980s (just before the merger of the Mens and Ladies clubs), player and umpire, passed away on 19 January
  • John Duke, player and for example regular at Thanet Hockey Festival in the 1970s, passed away on 9 March
  • And the youngest of these was Simon James (pictured left) who played Mens 1s and 2s in the 90s and then moved to play for Colchester, Milton Keynes and others: Simon passed away after a short illness in February.
