1’s v Letchworth 1’s

0-2  PoM: Ollie Plummer.

After a home loss to Blueharts the previous week, Stortford were keen to put on a good performance going into their second home match in two weeks, this time against Letchworth. Having not trained that week due to frozen pitches, a cold winter’s day was to be expected. Within 10 minutes a questionable green card was shown to Jack Wheaton, after a mistimed challenge, but Stortford managed to deal with being down a man.

Stortford managed to score shortly after, as Rich Heywood latched onto an aerial but the goal was ruled out. Shortly after Andy Round was shown yellow, which left the team short for another period. Once again Stortford managed to deal with the extra man. Just before half time a short corner was gifted to Letchworth, and was dispatched into the bottom left corner of the goal. A second was added for the visitors after another short corner, the initial shot was saved by Ollie Foot, and the rebound was tapped in.

The second half was a spectacle of attacking play by the home side, with another goal ruled out by the umpires due to an enthusiastic call just before the goal was scored by Craig Smith. The away team managed to grab a penalty flick off a breakaway, but keeper Ollie Foot stepped up again and saved.

A much better performance from the home team, but still no points on the board in 2024.
