The Mens 2s made it back-to-back victories and their fifth clean sheet of the season, with a gutsy 1-0 victory at home to former league challengers Shefford & Sandy.

The visitors had a strong first half, with several fast and skillful forwards putting a lot of pressure on the stoic Stortford backline.  Ultimately, it fell to a defender as player of the match Harry Bannister deflected a penalty corner goal late in the second half.  Stortford held on again with sharp work from David Butcher in goal.

Bishop’s Stortford 6s hosted Potters Bar 4s who were top of the league going into the match. Stortford started brightly and went 1-0 up with a goal from Maksim White. Potters Bar then fought their way back into the game with an equaliser and began to look threatening on the break, eventually going 2-1 up just before half time. Stortford had to stand up to the challenge of a physical opposition, and credit must go to the younger players for staying on their game.

Maksim equalised early in the second half setting up the contest, keeper Dan Lowe made a series of great saves, before Stortford conceded from a short corner. As Stortford pushed for an equaliser, they exposed themselves at the back and conceded a fourth goal. So, Potters Bar won a tough game 4-2 but credit must go to Ross Hobson for battling strongly in midfield, Maksim White for his work rate and two goals and Dan Lowe for some great saves.
