Stortford Ladies 7s were very unlucky to lose, by a single goal, a strongly contested match against Blueharts 5s who were four places above them in the league.
The game started with play back and forth. Blueharts were awarded an early short corner but this was easily smothered by the outrunning defenders. Stortford looked dangerous with a great run and pass from Jess and also a good attack from Emily which their keeper saved.
The first half continued to be evenly matched with the tireless Lexi dominating the midfield area. Unfortunately Blueharts managed to score a breakaway goal after 26 minutes. Stortford fought back and were awarded two short corners. From the first Grace scored an excellent goal which sadly was disallowed due to an attacker breaking early.
In the second half Stortford came extremely close to scoring on two occasions with the forwards working hard in the D. Lexi continued to pick up most of the balls through the middle and was ably assisted by the other mids, Grace and Scout in particular.
Naomi made a crucial goal line clearance in the final minutes and Stortford looked dangerous right to the end. But it was not to be!
P o M was Lexi who did not stop running and was a constant thorn in the opposition’s side!
